If art is your thing and you’re a die-hard fan of the inimitable and groundbreaking Riopelle, than the MMFA’s powerful Riopelle – The Call of Northern Landscapes and Indigenous Cultures has your name all over it, with a focus on the Montreal born legend’s unique style of mosaic, non-western and abstract art from northern regions.
Featuring a mix of 160 artifacts, sculptures and historical works, some of the most famous and impactful are front and centre (lucky us!) including Fontaine (1977), Blizzard sylvestre (1953), L’étang – Hommage à Grey Owl (1970), D’un long voyage (1973) and Pangnirtung (1977).
