Last week we took a good look at all the benefits castor oil bestows on the body’s biggest organ, your skin, if used right.
Well guess what? The natural jewel is just as giving on the hair front.
While my mane is fine and admittedly never as cascading Rapunzel as I would like, I can say proudly that the past few months of regular application and massage of a small amount of castor oil into the scalp, on average 3-4 times a week, has definitely made a difference in shine, texture and fall.
In fact, the compliments have been forthcoming for the new lob (long bob), inspiring even more religious and dedicated application.
Why the results?
According to numerous sources and an an-depth consultation with a naturopath I respect and admire, the anti-inflammatory oil is rich in vitamins and minerals that play a sizeable role in boosting scalp health (all kinds of anti fungal, antibacterial things going on!).
There are also oodles of fatty acids packed in which help on the shine and silky front front, as well as certain research to back up the effectiveness of ricinoleic acid in inhibiting a compound associated with hair loss – prostaglandin D2 (PGD2).
Whatever the science, I seriously recommend giving it a whirl.
Be sure to rub into brows on a daily basis too, ’cause I swear those babies are also reaping the rewards, looking better and fuller than when spending chunks of change on the expensive potions …
Happy castor loves … Bat the lashes, flip the mane!
