Montreal is getting one more major celebration before summer comes to an end.
The inaugural AfroTropic Festival is taking over the city on August 26 and August 30, 2026, bringing together music, food, fashion, crafts, and culture from across Africa, the Caribbean, and their diasporas.
The festivities begin on Wednesday, August 26 at L’Olympia, with a special performance by Didi B, one of the most influential voices in Ivorian rap and the wider Afro-French music scene. The opening night sets the tone for a festival centered around creativity, cultural expression, and the sounds connecting Montreal to the African diaspora.
Then, on Sunday, August 30, AfroTropic moves outdoors to the Clock Tower Quay in Old Montreal for a full day of music and culture overlooking the St. Lawrence River.
The lineup features Keblack, Fallon, Sensey, and several local Montreal artists, with sounds ranging from Afrobeats and amapiano to dancehall, konpa, and zouk. The result promises to be a vibrant mix of international and homegrown talent.
But AfroTropic is designed to be more than a music festival.
Throughout the day, visitors can discover African and Caribbean street food, explore fashion and crafts from the diaspora, and experience the cultural influences that continue to shape Montreal’s creative scene.
The choice of location adds another layer to the experience. With the Old Port and St. Lawrence River as its backdrop, the Clock Tower Quay provides an ideal setting for a late-summer celebration, bringing people together just days before the city transitions into a new season.
For its first edition, AfroTropic arrives with an ambitious goal: to create a space where music, fashion, gastronomy, and community come together while celebrating the growing influence of Afro-Caribbean cultures in Montreal.
