Roll out the red carpet and warm up those vocal cords, social gals and gents. The Tony Awards are here and Broadway’s most brilliant night did not disappoint for a single second.
Since 1947, the Tony Awards have celebrated the artists, performers, and craftspeople whose extraordinary work brings theatre to life on New York City’s most coveted stages. And this year, the talent was nothing short of immense.
Schmigadoon! took home the award for Best Musical along with three additional wins, making it the undisputed star of the evening. Liberation claimed Best Play in a moment that had the entire room on its feet. And the performances recognized this year were nothing short of legendary. John Lithgow for Giant, Lesley Manville for Oedipus, and the breathtaking duo of Joshua Henry and Caissie Levy for Ragtime all took home top honours for their leading roles, reminding us why live theatre remains one of the most powerful art forms in the world.
But the celebration did not end when the curtain fell. The official Tony Awards After Party at Rockefeller Center, sponsored by Dewar’s Scotch Whisky, brought the night to the most glamorous of finales. Signature Dewar’s cocktails flowed freely as toasts were raised and celebrations carried well into the night. Among those revelling in the festivities were Daniel Radcliffe, Drew Barrymore, Julianne Hough, Darren Criss, and Lisa Ann Walter, all gathered to toast another remarkable season on Broadway.
