One of Canada’s most celebrated pianists and composers is embarking on one of the most meaningful chapters of his extraordinary career, and Québec is at the very heart of it.
Alain Lefèvre will launch his Consolation tour across 12 cities in Québec, bringing the intimate recital experience inspired by his Warner Classics album of the same name to audiences throughout the province. The tour will continue into spring with a major symphonic performance at Montreal’s Maison symphonique, where Lefèvre will perform Rachmaninoff’s beloved Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Orchestre Philharmonique et Choeur des Mélomanes, one of the most anticipated classical music events of the season.
At the heart of this tour is Consolation, a deeply moving musical journey that Lefèvre himself describes as a balm, a haven of peace, and a ray of light for our shared humanity. An invitation to reflection, serenity, and hope, the programme reflects the profoundly humanistic vision that has always defined his extraordinary body of work.
And this season carries a particularly powerful international honour. The International Peace Alliance has awarded Alain Lefèvre its Lifetime Achievement Award in Music, recognizing him as a Cultural Ambassador of Peace alongside globally renowned figures including Susan Sarandon, Ken Loach, and Gerhard Richter. The honour will be formally presented at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York during the Peace Ambassadors Awards Gala and Grand Ball, the closing event of the International Peace Festival.
“Music has always been, for me, a universal language capable of building bridges between people and cultures,” says Lefèvre. “Receiving this award is a deeply moving honour because it recognizes not only an artistic journey, but also the unifying power of music.”
The accolade feels entirely fitting for an artist of such extraordinary reach and depth. Lefèvre has performed in more than forty countries on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Royal Albert Hall in London, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, and Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. He has collaborated with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, among many others.
A passionate champion of contemporary music and Canada’s musical heritage, Lefèvre is also widely celebrated for his pivotal role in the international rediscovery of the music of André Mathieu, often referred to as the Canadian Mozart, bringing this extraordinary Canadian composer’s work to audiences in New York, Paris, London, Berlin, and Shanghai.
