There are artists who perform. And then there are artists who move the world. Alain Lefèvre is unquestionably the latter.
The internationally acclaimed Canadian pianist and composer is launching one of his most extraordinary seasons yet, beginning with the Consolation tour on September 27th, 2026. Featuring the latest compositions from his 2025 Warner Classics album of the same name, the intimate recital tour will travel through 12 cities across Québec and continue into spring 2027, culminating in a major and deeply anticipated symphonic performance on May 8th, 2027, when Lefèvre will perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Orchestre Philharmonique et Chur des Mélomanes at Montreal’s magnificent Maison symphonique.
Consolation is, as Lefèvre himself describes it, a balm, a haven of peace, and a ray of light for our shared humanity. A musical journey that invites reflection, serenity, and hope, it reflects the profoundly humanistic vision that runs through every note he has ever played.
And this season carries an honour as extraordinary as the man himself. The International Peace Alliance has awarded Alain Lefèvre its 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award in Music, recognizing him as one of this year’s Cultural Ambassadors of Peace alongside internationally celebrated figures including Susan Sarandon, Ken Loach, and Gerhard Richter. The honour will be formally presented on October 24th, 2026, at Toronto’s iconic Fairmont Royal York during the Peace Ambassadors Awards Gala and Grand Ball, the closing event of the International Peace Festival.
His words about the recognition are as moving as his music. “Music has always been, for me, a universal language capable of building bridges between people and cultures,” he says. “Receiving this award is a deeply moving honour because it recognizes not only an artistic journey, but also the unifying power of music.”
Lefèvre has performed on more than forty countries’ most prestigious stages, from Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada, a Knight of the National Order of Québec, and one of the most passionate champions of Canadian musical heritage the country has ever produced.
This fall, Montreal’s concert halls will be graced by one of their greatest sons. And we cannot think of a more beautiful way to welcome the new season.
