MTL PILATES

THE ART OF TRUE PILATES

In a world where fitness trends shift in the blink of an eye, some approaches deserve to be preserved, respected, and taught with precision. Since 2017, MTLPILATES has embodied this philosophy. Recently relocated to Peel Street, the studio reflects the vision of its founder, Véronique Lefort and is very Glamada friendly.

From the moment you walk in, the space impresses with its refined atmosphere. Spread across two light-filled floors, the studio is both minimalist and elegant, thoughtfully designed in every detail. Sessions are tailored to a wide range of goals, from discovering the method and supporting rehabilitation to enhancing performance and advancing one’s practice.

On the main floor, a studio equipped with twelve reformers hosts group classes. Upstairs, a dedicated space for private sessions includes cadillac, chairs, barrels, and reformers. Small group classes on chairs and barrels are also offered, allowing for a more comprehensive exploration of the pilates system.

Beyond the quality of its facilities, it is the teaching philosophy that truly sets MTLPILATES apart. Trained with Polestar Pilates, Lefort continues to refine her expertise through ongoing education in New York, Miami, Poland, and Barcelona. This commitment allows her to offer an approach that is both rigorous and nuanced.

At a time when many studios prioritize intensity and speed, MTLPILATES takes a different path: returning to the foundations of the discipline with control, precision, and a deep connection to the body. Pilates was never intended to be just another workout. Originally, Joseph Pilates developed his method to help injured soldiers regain mobility and strength, adapting hospital beds into what would become the first reformers. That rehabilitative dimension remains central to the practice taught here.

A former ballerina, Véronique Lefort naturally embodies this approach. Her deep understanding of movement, combined with over fifteen years of experience, is reflected in every detail of the classes. This is not about following trends, but about preserving the essence of the method: building deep strength, refining body awareness, and improving the quality of movement over time.

The result is a practice that supports spinal health, improves posture, enhances flexibility, and strengthens the body from within, always with respect for each individual’s capacity.

Personally, this is a studio I have been attending for over five years, and it has played a key role in improving my flexibility, as well as helping me manage significant hip and back issues. It has become, in my view, a true must-visit destination for wellness in Montreal.

In a world driven by “more is better,” MTL-PILATES elegantly reminds us that sometimes, slowing down is the most powerful way to move forward.
