DOUGLAS BBQ FOR MENTAL HEALTH

MORE THAN A BBQ!

This past Tuesday, September 16th, the Douglas BBQ for Mental Health lit up its second edition, presented in partnership with Manulife. The evening brought together community leaders, advocates, and supporters for a cause that touches millions across Canada: mental health.

Far more than just a barbecue, the gathering was a heartfelt celebration of those making a difference. This year’s spotlight shone on Vanessa Mulroney and Matthew Turner, honoured for their powerful testimonials and steadfast dedication to supporting those living with mental illness. Their courage and generosity set the tone for a night defined by both compassion and hope.

Funds raised during the event will go directly toward renovating the second floor of the REED Pavilion, a cornerstone of emergency care and community-based mental health services. It’s a project designed not only to improve facilities, but to reimagine what care can look like for the future.

Want to play a role in this transformation? Visit The Douglas Foundation website to learn how you can contribute. Because this isn’t just about raising funds—it’s about reshaping the narrative. Together, we’re not only building hope; we’re daring to dream of a Canada that’s more compassionate, more informed, and more supportive of mental health—and making that dream a reality.
