Wellness on the road

Done beautifully

Staying fit while traveling has never been more important or more achievable, and nobody knows this better than Harley Pasternak.

The Toronto-born celebrity trainer whose impressive roster of clients includes Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, and Adam Levine, Pasternak holds a Master of Science in exercise physiology and nutritional sciences from the University of Toronto and is the first-ever global fitness advisor for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. His mission? To make wellness on the road feel less like a burden and more like a natural, joyful extension of the luxury travel experience.

His advice is refreshingly simple and completely achievable. Walk at least 12,000 steps a day. Unplug from technology for at least one hour. Aim for seven hours of quality sleep. Eat protein and fibre across three meals and two snacks. And challenge your muscles with an efficient resistance workout that can be done anywhere, even in the comfort of your hotel room. Planks, skater lunges, hip thrusts, and push-ups require no equipment and deliver extraordinary results.

Pasternak has redesigned fitness facilities at Four Seasons properties around the world, including here in Montreal, where the hotel’s state-of-the-art gym features custom Hoist Fitness equipment in a sleek black finish that perfectly complements the property’s iconic design. At Four Seasons Los Angeles, an incredible indoor and outdoor gym makes the most of the California sunshine. And at Four Seasons Bali, lush turf and breathtaking natural surroundings bring harmony and beauty to every workout.

The key, Pasternak says, is balance. Balance in your workouts, your diet, your sleep, and your mental health. And the good news? Maintaining your wellness routine while traveling does not require perfection. It simply requires intention.

Because the most luxurious version of travel always includes feeling your very best.
