It was a night to remember as hundreds of leaders from the city’s corporate, cultural, and political communities donned their Saturday-night sartorial best for the much-anticipated 65th edition of the MMFA Museum Ball, held, as is tradition, in both pavilions.
Proudly presented by IG Private Wealth Management and co-chaired with elegance and grace by Erik Ryan, Special Advisor on Stakeholder Engagement at AtkinsRéalis; Jérôme Pécresse, Chief Executive, Aluminium & Lithium at Rio Tinto; Tracy Robinson, President and CEO of CN; and Alexandre L’Heureux, President and CEO, WSP Global, the magical evening paid homage to the spirit of Quebec and Canadian art, embracing an overarching theme of freedom—to create, to be oneself, and to love—inspired by the season’s signature exhibition, Kent Monkman: History Is Painted by the Victors.
Highlights included a grand champagne cocktail; the opportunity to peruse the astoundingly impressive collection; a gastronomic feast prepared by the dream team at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth in collaboration with Fogo Island Inn’s legendary Executive Chef Timothy Charles; next-level artistic direction by the MMFA Foundation and Agence Niché, including a banquet hall reimagined by revered visual artist Rénée Condo; and an après-dance party and lounge that still have guests buzzing days later.
Not surprisingly, the benefit evening for Canada’s oldest art museum raised a cool two million—monies instrumental not only to the MMFA’s various audiences but also, explained Jo-Anne Duchesne, Director of the MMFA Foundation, “an entire cultural ecosystem that enriches—and can even transform—lives.”
Bravo and congratulations! What a night!
