Leave it to OMEGA to quietly rewrite the rules of an entire industry.
The Swiss luxury house has just unveiled the Constellation Observatory Collection — and it is nothing short of a horological revolution. For nearly a century, certifying a watch for precision required one non-negotiable element: a seconds hand. OMEGA has now made that requirement completely obsolete. The Constellation Observatory Collection is the first two-hand watch in history to achieve Master Chronometer certification — and the technology behind it is as fascinating as the timepiece itself.
The breakthrough is powered by Dual Metric Technology, a wireless acoustic testing system that captures the signature of every single tick and tock throughout a full 25-day certification process — continuously recording temperature, position, magnetic exposure, and atmospheric pressure. One data point per day is a thing of the past.
But beyond the groundbreaking science, the collection itself is simply stunning. Drawing directly from OMEGA’s archives, the iconic dodecagonal “pie-pan” dial traces back to the 1950s Constellation references, paired with a nine-row brick-pattern bracelet in 18K Moonshine™ Gold — a modern love letter to the collection’s vintage roots.
Nine references. Four of OMEGA’s proprietary precious metal alloys appearing together for the very first time. And one extraordinary moment in watchmaking history.
We are completely obsessed.
