MICHAEL KORS SPRING/SUMMER 2027

ARCHITECTURAL MODERNISM

Michael Kors returned to one of the most magnificent and fitting settings imaginable for his Spring/Summer 2027 runway show, presenting his latest collection in the breathtaking Sculpture Garden of The Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The collection was as extraordinary and deeply considered as its surroundings.

“The collection is very much about modernism, incredible architecture, and things that are timeless,” says Michael Kors. “For me, no matter what I do, it has to stand the test of time, but it also has to be something that brings you joy, lifts your spirits, changes your eye and makes you think differently.”

For Spring/Summer 2027, Kors embraced the most beautiful tension between boldness and restraint. Lean tailoring met shrunken silhouettes. Sculptural dresses and curved lines spoke directly to the architectural theme at the heart of the collection. Crisp stripes and gingham, painterly florals, and unexpected colour blocking tapped brilliantly into the artistic energy of the MoMA setting, while a vibrant palette of grass, sunflower, coral, and wave blue brought the whole vision to vivid, joyful life.

Seasonless blends of cotton and wool created a wardrobe built for shifting temperatures and real life, while on the accessories front, sculptural bags and footwear alluded to architectural design in the most sophisticated and considered way. Mid-century inspired jewellery and oversized eyewear completed a story that felt both deeply rooted in fashion history and entirely, thrillingly of the moment.

“I’m a people-watcher, and I was very much inspired by the idea of places where different style sets converge — museums, galleries and openings,” Kors explains. “We have all the characters that you would see at an opening.” And the front row reflected exactly that spirit, with Grace Van Patten, Gabrielle Union, Lea Michele, Olivia Munn, Jordyn Woods, Jackson White, Danny Ramirez, and more friends of the brand all gathered in the most beautifully curated audience imaginable.

Models Alex Consani, Paloma Elsesser, Anok Yai, Awar Odhiang, Noor Khan, Hejia Li, Liisa Winkler, Julia Nobis, and more brought the collection to life in flowing movement through the MoMA’s iconic sculpture garden, accompanied by a custom soundtrack crafted by composer Sebastien Perrin that leaned perfectly into the urban oasis energy of the setting.

Adding to the excitement of the season, Michael Kors has also launched a brand new Instagram channel, @MichaelKorsCollection, dedicated to bringing the Collection’s ready-to-wear and accessories to life through the artisanal details and craft behind each piece, alongside heritage stories of the brand and the designer’s own inspirations and travels.

Forty-five years of Michael Kors. And the collection has never felt more alive, more joyful, or more magnificently, timelessly itself.
