An artist, actress, writer, artistic director, and fashion model, Geneviève is the definition of a woman who creates through every dimension of her being. As she so beautifully puts it herself: “I create through stage, image, and words.” And darling, the world she has built from those three pillars is as rich, as vibrant, and as deeply personal as anything we have ever encountered.
Born and based between Montreal and Quebec City, Geneviève brings a rare and deeply authentic energy to everything she touches. Her passion for style, self-love, and modeling tips has built a devoted and growing community of followers who are drawn not just to her aesthetic but to her genuine warmth, her creative fearlessness, and her commitment to celebrating women exactly as they are.
Beyond the world of fashion and modeling, Geneviève is also a finalist for Miss Québec, a testament to the breadth of her impact and the depth of the impression she leaves on every room she enters. She is also one half of JAMAE (자매), a K-pop inspired dance duo from Canada, and the creative force behind Jaelim (재림), her music and dance project that speaks to her extraordinary range as a performer and artist.
A multidisciplinary artist in the truest and most complete sense of the word, Geneviève Rhéaume is one of the most exciting and inspiring creative voices to emerge from Quebec in recent memory. And we have a feeling the very best chapters of her story are still beautifully ahead.
1. What are the advantages of being a fashion model?
“I think one of the greatest advantages of modeling is all the people you get to meet. You have the opportunity to work with photographers, designers, makeup artists, stylists, videographers, and other artists, each with their own creative vision. Being surrounded by so many creative and inspiring people is incredibly enriching. Modeling also helps you develop your presence and become more aware of your body, your movements, and your expressions. It can even help you develop a certain elegance in your posture, the way you walk, and the way you present yourself. When it comes to self-confidence, I think it’s more complex. Modeling can definitely help build confidence, but sometimes it can also have the opposite effect in an industry where your appearance is constantly being observed and evaluated. Over time, I’ve learned to embrace what helps me grow without allowing other people’s opinions to completely define the way I see myself. Most importantly, I see modeling as a form of artistic expression. Through a look, a pose, a movement, or an emotion, you can tell a story and help bring an entire creative team’s vision to life.”
2. Who or what inspired you to become an artist and painter?
“I would say, in a way, everyone, but definitely also my family and the environment I grew up in. I was fortunate to grow up in a very creative family where many different forms of artistic expression were encouraged: dance, singing, music, drawing, painting, writing, and photography. Creating has always felt very natural to me. Ever since I was little, I’ve been singing, dancing, writing, drawing, and painting. I also loved being in front of the camera long before I knew modeling would one day become such an important part of my life. So I don’t think I ever really “decided” to become an artist. That part of me has always been there. A few years ago, I simply decided to take the leap and try to turn that lifelong dream into a real part of my life. What fascinates me about art is how everyone finds their own way to express themselves. A song, a movement, a piece of writing, a painting, or an image can communicate an emotion and sometimes even allow us to speak without needing words. With painting and drawing specifically, my perfectionist side kept me within what I already knew and could control for a long time. Discovering abstract art taught me to step outside my comfort zone and let go. Today, I love creating within that balance between freedom, emotion, control, and precision.”
3. Do you take part in art and fashion shows when traveling?
“Yes. In fact, at this point in my life, when I travel, it is mainly for my work as a model.
I travel to places such as Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City, and different regions of Quebec for photoshoots, workshops, and other modeling-related projects. My work has also given me opportunities to travel internationally. I went to Miami after being selected to participate in a fashion show, and I have also traveled to Mexico for photoshoots. In the future, I would love to expand the international side of my career even further, particularly in Europe. Of course, I would love to explore the places I visit as well, but my main goal would be to organize photoshoots, participate in fashion shows and artistic events, and build connections within the industry. Eventually, I would love for those experiences and connections to open doors to opportunities such as Fashion Weeks and other international events.”
4. Any plans on writing fashion books?
“Absolutely! Whether that will necessarily be in the form of a traditional book entirely about fashion, I don’t know yet. I have already written a photography book centered around modeling that I haven’t published yet. Photography is at the heart of the project, but the images are accompanied by written pieces and a few poems. It’s a project I would eventually love to develop further and publish. I also have other writing projects in the works, including digital projects and possibly e-books, but I prefer to keep a little mystery around those for now! As for writing a more traditional book about fashion someday, I’m definitely open to it. Life is full of surprises, and I like to follow the opportunities that come my way. If I ever have the opportunity to write a book about fashion, my experiences, or my perspective on the industry, it would be a project I would be very happy to take on.”
