From Renaissance Italy to digital art and electronic music, from legendary pianists to Indigenous voices of extraordinary power, this first chapter of the season is a breathtaking reflection of everything that makes Bourgie Hall one of the most beloved and exciting concert halls in the country.
Love’s Blindness — Il gioco della cieca
The season opens on a note of pure enchantment. Concerto di Margherita sweeps audiences into the flamboyant Italy of the Renaissance and early Baroque with five fabulous performers, enchanting voices, and period instruments that transport you entirely. An opening concert as joyful, vibrant, and utterly alive as the era it celebrates. This performance opens the season on September 24th at 7:30 PM.
Rémanences — Digital Art and Electronic Music
Bourgie Hall’s innovative edge is on full and spectacular display in the season’s second concert. An audiovisual performance by Sabrina Ratté and Roger Tellier-Craig unfolds at the heart of two breathtaking installations: Inflorescences, a vision of a new ecology arising from electronic waste, and Cyberdélia, an oracle prophesying on the troubles of the Anthropocene. Presented in collaboration with Pop Montréal, MOMENTA Biennale de l’art contemporain, and Heavy Trip, this is one of the most exciting and thought-provoking evenings of the season. Michel Dalberto, Piano
Legendary pianist and acclaimed recording artist Michel Dalberto graces the Bourgie Hall stage to open the Outstanding Pianists series, performing gems from the French piano repertoire alongside works by Franz Liszt that blend opera, mysticism, and heroics in the most magnificent way. With the support of Palazzetto Bru Zane and the estate of Marie-Paule Laurans, this is an evening of pure pianistic greatness. Taking place September 29th at 7:30 PM.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Closing the month in the most powerful and deeply moving way imaginable, Bourgie Hall presents a performance for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Innu soprano Elisabeth St-Gelais will perform Rien ne tuera ma lumière, a text by Innu poet Maya Cousineau Mollen, set to music by Anishinaabe composer Barbara Assiginaak, three times throughout the day in the exhibition rooms of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Presented in memory of composer Cris Derksen, this performance is one of the most important and beautiful cultural moments of the entire month. Taking place September 30th at 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 6:00 PM.
