To watch internationally acclaimed fashion photographer Gen Charbonneau at work in her natural habitat, her incredibly cool and sought-after studio, is a thing of beauty.
First, she’s a blur, chasing models across the space, and then suddenly she’s teetering atop a ladder, peering down through her lens to capture that shot, the one that will make people linger on the page or screen, noticing not just the stunning styles but the magic and beauty of the moment, the kind of legacy every great photographer like Gen leaves behind.
What truly sets Gen apart is that she stands out as a woman in her industry, leaving a meaningful mark while supporting and uplifting others. She knows when to take a stand, and she does so with humility and grace. She even shared a message she received from a young photographer she has never met, someone she supports through social media, with me. It really touched her. This is Gen, a passionate artist through and through.
It’s no wonder the homegrown talent, who also serves as director on the National board of CAPIC and vice-president of the Montreal chapter, has photographed some of the world’s most iconic stars, including Janet Jackson, Bryan Adams, Sophia Loren, Lara Fabian, Xavier Dolan, and Meghan Markle. She is also the creative force behind campaigns for Iris Setlakwe, Rudsak, Sporting Life, Pantene and Covergirl, with editorial work gracing the pages of Vogue Italia, Grazia Italia, Tatler, and yes, Diary Of A Social Gal.
