Dr. Nilesh Amin speaks about dentistry with the passion of an artist describing the possibility of a blank canvas.
“I look at a piece of porcelain and see the way the light transitions and reflects naturally,” he says. “Every fraction of a millimeter matters. It’s beautiful.”
An artist at heart, Amin didn’t grow up dreaming of dentistry. He followed a love of drawing, design, and science—until his passion for precision and creativity led him somewhere unexpected. After earning his DDS from McGill University, he spent a decade honing his skills in large practices, laying the foundation for something different.
Today, as founder of Bella Dentaire, a purpose-built dental studio in Montreal’s West Island suburb of Vaudreuil-Dorion, he has created a space where emotional connection, function, and aesthetics transform lives.
Blending technical mastery with empathy, Bella Dentaire practices what Amin calls “smile design,” a philosophy that considers each patient’s facial features, personality, and aspirations to craft natural, confident smiles.
“The smiles I create change the way people feel about themselves,” Amin says. “Your whole life can change with a smile; we see it in the clinic every day.”
His approach draws from advances training in functional dentistry and Digital Smile Design, a global aesthetic movement he helped pioneer locally through collaborations in Madrid, Brazil, and New York.
“It’s not about a (one-size-fits-all) perfect smile for everyone,” he explains. “It’s about understanding the individual—their face, their personality—and creating something that feels natural and right.”
Porcelain veneers, allowing for ultra-thin restorations that mimic the light and texture of natural teeth, plays a central role. So does Invisalign, offering discreet, functional correction without traditional braces.
At Bella Dentaire, the experience extends far beyond the clinical. Patients are welcomed with concierge service, custom playlists, and lounge-style comfort. Consultations include 3D imaging and smile “test drives,” offering a real-time glimpse of possibilities before any treatment begins.”
Artistry, innovation, and empathy share the spotlight, Amin believes, which helps people feel healthy, confident, and truly seen.
There’s a reason, after all, that many patients warmly greet him as “Dr. Smiles.”
“According to people on Instagram, apparently I have a signature smile!” Amin enthuses with a proud grin.
But ultimately, at Bella Dentaire, smiles are serious business.
“You have to really care. Because people aren’t just coming in for a procedure. They’re trusting you with how they feel about themselves.”
