MMFA BALL 24 RAISES THE BAR ON PHILANTHROPY, FASHION & FETE FABULOSITY: Boasting a saucy Baroque theme like Saints, Sinners, Lovers and Fools: Three Hundred Years of Flemish Masterpieces – inspired by the major exhibition of the same name – we knew we were in for a singular soiree at this year’s 64th annual Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) Ball. But then, when has one of the most sought-after tickets in the country ever disappointed?
Patronized by a next-level crowd of close to a thousand like Honorary Co-Chairs Deborah K. Orida, President/CEO of PSP Investments, and Abe Adham, Chair, Quebec Market, TD Bank Financial Group, the magical night was brilliantly organized by Christiane Fabi, Alice Menut and Pamela Plamondon Deliard and masterfully art directed by the MMFA Foundation dream team (with invaluable support from the internal MMFA team).
Topping the list of seemingly never ending highlights with hospitality partner Warwick Le Crystal – Montreal were a cocktail fit for kings and queens; gourmet terroir-inspired feast created by chef/author Laurent Dagenais (and brought to life by Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth’s foodie virtuosi); exquisitely appointed banquet rooms featuring nearly thirty works from the MMFA’s collection by celebrated artists like Kent Monkman, Janet Werner, and Guillaume Simoneau; a well-positioned DIOR beauty station (for those necessary post dining pre-dance touch ups!); stunning lounge replete with the soft embrace of Roche Bobois’ latest cocoon couches; let loose and leave your troubles behind dance fest; fun photo booth in collaboration with Canon Canada; and yes, even a farewell hot dog station thanks to who else but Lesters.
A huge congratulations to the MMFA top brass including Foundation Board Chair Henry Mizrahi, Foundation Director Jo-Anne Duchesne, Chief Curator Mary Dailey Desmarais, Board of Trustees Chair André Dufour, and MMFA Director Stéphane Aquin on yet another smashing success, comprising part of the major fundraising campaign The Museum Transforms Lives, generating an impressive 1.9 million plus in support of the cultural jewel’s top priorities: programming, promotion of the collection, maintenance and development of its educational and community engagement programs, and accessibility.
Bravo!
