Church’s celebrates 150 years

British shoemaking in Milan

In a world of fast fashion and fleeting trends, Church’s continues to do what it has always done best: take its time and do it beautifully.

The iconic British shoemaker marked 150 years of extraordinary craftsmanship in the most fitting way imaginable, presenting its Spring/Summer 2027 collection “The Residence” at the stunning Fondazione Adolfo Pini, a historic Milan residence turned cultural institution, during Milan Fashion Week men’s collections.

Founded in Northampton in 1873, Church’s has always placed shoemaking at the very center of its identity, and this presentation was a breathtaking celebration of exactly that. Guests were invited to explore two extraordinary installations that told the brand’s story with remarkable depth and beauty. A Material Library showcased the leathers and shoemaking tools that have defined the house for generations, while a Heritage Library filled with archival Church’s objects traced the brand’s remarkable journey from a Northampton workshop to one of the world’s most respected luxury labels.

The collection itself was equally compelling, spanning polished leather derbies, casual suede chukkas, and lightweight loafers that felt both timeless and entirely of the moment. The undisputed highlight? A stunning new interpretation of the iconic Shannon derby, a style that has been part of the Church’s lineup since 1974, now crafted from Doha calfskin and finished through an intricate process of hand-dyeing, antiquing, and airbrushing. A limited edition piece that is as much a work of art as it is a shoe.

One hundred and fifty years in and Church’s remains the gold standard of fine footwear. Some things simply get better with time.
