CHÂTEAU D’IVOIRE

MONTREAL MAISON OF MODERN LUXURY

Montreal’s Golden Square Mile has long been home to architectural grandeur, cultural treasures, and the city’s most elegant boutiques. Yet even in this refined landscape, one destination at 2020 Rue de la Montagne continues to set the gold standard for luxury. Château d’Ivoire, the iconic family-owned jeweller founded in 1978, celebrates the one-year anniversary of its spectacular new home that redefines what a modern jewelry experience can be.

My guest and I recently had the pleasure of stepping into this transformed space during an intimate soirée that paired fine jewelry, live jazz, oysters, caviar kissed bites, and cocktails infused with Midi Tequila. The evening shimmered from the moment VIPs — a select group of medias, socialites, clients, and friends arrived dressed to impress in a dark green, gold, and black palette, and so did the boutique itself.

Château d’Ivoire, which finished rebuilding its home in November 2024, is an architectural gem designed by Archi-. Rising at the foot of Mount Royal, the 40,000 square foot building pays tribute to the historic triplex ensemble that once stood on the site. Its contemporary façade, crafted from locally sourced grey stone, conveys permanence, security, and quiet majesty. At night, an illuminated forecourt guides visitors toward a double height entrance that immediately sets the tone for the world inside.

Once through the doors, light becomes the star. The central atrium anchors the entire boutique and fills every level with natural radiance.

A monumental staircase, sculptural and fluid, rises through the space like the facets of a marquise cut diamond. Each curve invites exploration. Each landing reveals something new.

The four-storey boutique is designed as a vertical journey into increasing exclusivity. The ground floor hosts world renowned brands presented through refined shop in shops. Alemya, Bulgari, Chanel, Chopard, Gucci, Mikimoto, Montblanc, Omega, Pomellato, Rana KB, and Piaget shine beneath discreet lighting. The second floor presents Château d’Ivoire’s own handmade collections, displayed in custom cases that frame the artistry of each piece.

Ascending to the third floor, the mood shifts from classic luxury to contemporary creativity. Visitors can enjoy a café lounge, peek into glass walled workshops, and watch master jewelers at work. This behind the scenes access reveals a truth the Kaidbey family has championed since the beginning. Jewelry is not only worn. It is made with passion, precision, and heart.

The fourth floor, still under construction, will eventually provide a private reception area and green rooftop terrace offering views that feel like a secret escape in the middle of downtown. It will also be the future home of curated exhibits and exclusive events.

During the soirée, the Kaidbey family spoke with warmth about their journey from their beginnings in Lebanon to building one of Canada’s most respected luxury houses. Integrity, craftsmanship, and family remain the foundation of everything they do, and the new boutique reflects these values beautifully.
