Homegrown artist Cedric Sequerra may have graduated in finance and spent years in techpreneurship, but his rich body of self-titled “Pop Culture Time Capsules” instantaneously communicates where his passions lie. Inspired by a lifelong love of pop culture, visual storytelling, and collections (he still loves amassing graded trading cards, a perk for his kids’ college funds!), the self-taught creative encountered a pivotal professional turning point when he happened upon an enthralling art collection at the South Beach home of a friend. Although rendered speechless by the sheer beauty and grandeur of the astonishing pieces before him, four words ultimately defined the transformative experience: “I can do this!” And has he ever. Sparked by the realization that his future lay in the world of art, Sequerra moved on from a successful career in brand consulting, graphic design, video production, and directing (he worked with the high-profile likes of supermodel Coco Rocha, Deadmau5, and many others) to an intentional alignment of his love of collecting and photography that has since taken him on the adventure of a lifetime. To date, he has created a robust body of works for numerous serious collectors across the globe, all of which reflect his groundbreaking new mode of expression. How does he do it? Not easily lol! Each collaboration demands copious hours of research, assemblage, captures, and post-production, elements hardly evident in the masterful final creations that appear to have been snapped with such ease. While the young artist still has many new collections to immortalize, there are other dreams on the horizon, including a tabletop book showcasing all of the works in one digestible space, inviting readers to surrender to the magic and allure of nostalgia seized in his signature style.
