Montreal’s HoMa district shimmered with style and solidarity on Friday evening, October 17, as over 1,200 guests gathered for the 13th edition of the Let’s Bond Urban Ball, presented by RBC.

Hosted in the newly restored Cartier Theatre, this edition of the iconic benefit fused Asian-inspired glamour with a timeless mission: advancing mental health awareness across the Greater Montreal community.

A Mission of Mental Health Advocacy
Since its inception in 2011, Let’s Bond has been more than a social event. It is a collective dedicated to breaking the stigma around mental health through creativity, conversation, and philanthropy. This year’s Urban Ball raised an outstanding $900,000 for the Douglas Foundation and Youth in Mind Foundation, two organizations leading vital mental health initiatives in Quebec. Beyond the glitz and music, guests were reminded that progress begins when people come together for a shared cause.

A Venue with Historic Soul
This year marked the second Urban Ball held inside the Cartier Theatre, a venue reborn from the historic Saint-Vincent-de-Paul Church at 2330 rue Sainte-Catherine Est. Revitalized by the Carosielli Group, celebrated for preserving Montreal’s cultural landmarks like the Rialto and St-James Theatres, the Cartier Theatre perfectly balanced old-world grandeur with modern design.

Towering beaux-arts arches, soft ambient lighting, and cutting-edge sound created an ambiance of both reverence and revelry. The symbolism was powerful: a sacred space transformed into a temple of joy and togetherness. The choice of venue underscored Montreal’s evolving relationship with heritage, art, and social purpose, reaffirming the city’s reputation as a cultural capital where history meets innovation.

A Bond-Inspired Thai Fantasy
The evening’s theme, “Night at Ko Tapu”, drew inspiration from the Thai island featured in the 1974 James Bond classic The Man with the Golden Gun. Guests embraced the cinematic motif with impeccable flair, donning sleek tuxedos, shimmering gowns, and jewel-toned ensembles that evoked tropical sophistication. The atmosphere was intoxicating, blending the mystique of Bond’s world with the sensory allure of Southeast Asia.

From the moment attendees entered the theater, they were greeted into an immersive experience where old Hollywood charm met contemporary artistry. Every detail, from lighting to décor, reflected a seamless interplay between fantasy and philanthropy.

VIP Indulgence and Culinary Artistry
For Major Donor ticket holders, the evening began with a VIP cocktail at 7 p.m. in the theater’s tastefully renovated lower level. The experience was a masterclass in refinement, featuring a premium open bar curated by Montreal’s finest mixologists and gourmet hors d’oeuvres prepared by acclaimed local restaurants.

Each bite celebrated the city’s culinary brilliance, setting the tone for an evening defined by sensory delight and stylish generosity.

Music, Art, and Celebration
As the clock struck nine, the main hall came alive with the arrival of General Admission guests, amplifying the energy and anticipation.

Live performances throughout the night showcased the best of Montreal’s artistic talent. From soulful vocals to dynamic instrumental acts, the program was as diverse as it was magnetic.

By midnight, the Cartier Theatre had fully transformed into a vibrant dance floor, pulsing with energy, light, and laughter. The beats reverberated through the historic walls, marking a night that guests will not soon forget.

Preserving Heritage, Inspiring Hope
The 2025 edition of the Let’s Bond Urban Ball was both a celebration of glamour and a statement about what Montreal can achieve when art, community, and compassion unite. The rebirth of the Cartier Theatre mirrored the event’s message: transformation through care, vision, and collaboration.

As the Let’s Bond collective closes another successful chapter, it continues to stand as a beacon of hope, reminding us that investing in mental health is investing in humanity itself. The night at Ko Tapu may have ended, but its legacy of connection and generosity will echo long after the last song faded.
