Montreal, our city of culture and charm, deserves theatre that is just as alluring. Enter: TINA – The Tina Turner Musical. Directed by Tony Award nominee Phyllida Lloyd, the musical tells the incredible story of Tina Turner, who became a global sensation in spite of the racism, sexism, and ageism she faced along the way.
The musical opened on London’s West End in 2018. To say its Broadway run in 2019 was critically acclaimed is a vast understatement; it was nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Since then, the musical has toured sold-out audiences worldwide.
The iconic music and inspiring story is finally gracing Montreal’s Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place Des Arts, presented by evenko and Broadway Across Canada. It stars Jayna Elise as Turner, who has previously worked on stage alongside Tyler Perry and Queen Latifah and was a finalist on America’s Got Talent and American Idol. TINA – The Tina Turner Musical opened February 4th and plays from February 5th to 7th at 7:30 p.m. and on February 8th and 9th at both 1:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
